Each friend told us their favorite artists and songs, explored the music we suggested, gave us feedback, and we in turn made new suggestions. Everybody started joking that we were now their personal DJs.

We created Pandora so that we can have that same kind of conversation with you.
We ended up assembling literally hundreds of musical attributes or "genes" into a very large Music Genome. Taken together these genes capture the unique and magical musical identity of a song - everything from melody, harmony and rhythm, to instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics, and of course the rich world of singing and vocal harmony. It's not about what a band looks like, or what genre they supposedly belong to, or about who buys their records - it's about what each individual song sounds like.

Over the past 5 years, we've carefully listened to the songs of over 10,000 different artists - ranging from popular to obscure - and analyzed the musical qualities of each song one attribute at a time. This work continues each and every day as we endeavor to include all the great new stuff coming out of studios, clubs and garages around the world.

It has been quite an adventure, you could say a little crazy - but now that we've created this extraordinary collection of music analysis, we think we can help be your guide as you explore your favorite parts of the music universe.

there GO-es Yahoo !

well ..well..well
Web2.0 is right here standing infront of me and givin me the familar wink !
yeah ..its been a while since i have seen something as delightful as this for those of you , who have dared to click and venture beyond the page ...well bliss upon you :-)
yeah after picasa, flickr and pandora ...Go comes as a refreshing experience of consumercentric web services ...
Check out the widgets offered here ...
Its kinda slickishly cool !

Sponsored-Organic-Paid-Included listing ...eh ?

Read this on clickz ..........
Now i dont think this is a smart idea........
the mainstay of google is a simple clear interface and the transparency........
this thing sort of fudges the things .........

Google is testing interspersing alternate listings that appear to be commercial in nature into its natural, or organic, search results.

A recent search for "on demand," for example, returned an area delineated off from natural results, occupying the above-the-fold sixth through eighth positions in the organic results area of the page. Within the clearly demarcated but unlabeled space were three listings for Comcast services.

Mike Levin, VP of Connors Communications Interactive Group, called the listings "very commercial-looking results." He claims his company has examined 50 keywords and -phrases which, when queried, delivered similar results in the same demarcated position on the page.

"We're finding results that may be an experiment in a new system of determining relevance," Levin said, "So they are taking positions 6,7 and 8 they're drawing horizontal lines and they are doing something else in that spot. Which on its own has tremendous implications for the organic search optimization field."

A Google spokesperson assured ClickZ News the results are not paid listings, saying the demarcated results are a search relevancy experiment.

Kevin Lee, executive chairman and co-founder of Did-It, says the results don't appear to be paid listing to expert eyes. He notes both the cache and the live page both show page titles consistent with the Google's representation of organic results. He also notes the URL formations looked like organic redirects.

Levin claims the re-directs indicate the results are being tracked, but not with all the code that's used to track Ad Words placements. "So it is an experiment in AdWords relevancy that changes the current page rank approach," Levin hypothesizes. It's a sentiment seconded in recent years by the Federal Communications Commission.

Technical limitations and a bad habit of interfering with local emergency radios, however, have made BPL a tantalizing near-miss for the tech industry.

But last week's investment by Web search leader Google, the media conglomerate Hearst and bankers at Goldman Sachs in a Germantown, Md., company called Current Communications Group has many wondering if the time is finally right for the oft-ignored BPL. Current didn't disclose the amount of the investment, but The Wall Street Journal reported it was about $100 million. IBM has also started making noise in this market, announcing on Monday that it is partnering with Houston-based power utility CenterPoint Energy to build a BPL network.

More from CNET

Idea Dukaan !

Hmm looks like apna idea dukaans are gettin smarter these days ....
check out this story from e4m about an initiative everest did for Hitachi Airconditioners........

"For Hitachi air conditioners, the agency backed the television commercial with a unique solution, which was to print 1,000 books with the title “Autobiography of an Air Conditioner.” The book appears like a novel and the back cover indicates that it has been published by ‘Neverest Books’. Now they want to be the ones in charge.

While the formal proposal from a U.N. working group will be released July 18, it's already clear what it will contain. While that overshadowed audiences for the ABC TV special (2.9 million) and MTV's coverage (2.2 million), the worldwide TV audience for all concerts might have been 3 billion people, according to organizer Bob Geldof. The AP called it a milestone in the maturity of streaming video online, which has come a long way since a failed Victoria's Secret webcast in '99. One Live 8 producer, Ken Ehrlich, called the AOL webcast a template for the future. "Not to negate the importance of television, but I really think the Internet generation has come of age and the numbers have multiplied to a point of real change," he told the L.A. Times. It's ".mobi."

The new suffix was approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers at a meeting last week in Amsterdam. The first Web sites for mobile devices will be ready in 2006.

Mobile phone providers and marketers of handsets wanted the new domain name and have established a joint venture to encourage companies and Web site designers to create mobile Web pages. The move to create ".mobi" is similar to recent moves to create a domain to flag adult/porn-related sites.

Companies backing the new domain include Ericsson, Microsoft, Nokia, Samsung, T-Mobile, and Vodafone. Add 40 million credit cards to the growing tally of sensitive consumer information pilfered from the firms entrusted with it. MasterCard International said Friday that data theives had infiltrated the computer network of CardSystems Solutions, a company that processes transactions between financial services firms and merchants, gaining access to the account numbers and verification codes of some 40 million MasterCard, Visa USA, American Express and Discover cardholders. Nice. The FBI says it is investigating. CardSystems Solutions, the credit card processing outfit from which the data as stolen, acknowledged yesterday that it had mishandled the accounts in question. In an interview with The New York Times, CardSystems Solutions CEO John Perry said the company have been illigitimately retaining consumer records. Why? "Research purposes," Perry told The Times. "We should not have been doing that." No, you should't have, John. Under rules established by Visa and MasterCard, processors like CardSystems are forbidden from retaining cardholder information after handling transactions. "CardSystems provides services and is supposed to pass that information on to the banks and not keep it," Joshua Peirez, a MasterCard official, told the Times. "They were keeping it."

Amazon's Thank You Note ..er Concert !

'To commemorate its 10th Anniversary, Amazon.com announced that on July 16th customers will receive a special thank-you - a concert featuring Bob Dylan and Norah Jones. Similar to an online auction, a group action has its own page, describing how much money will be collected and what the money will do. It has only been in business since last month, but so far, Fundable seems to attract a mix of fundraisers and tech savvy group buyers (for example, 10 people just completed a group buy for a USD 1,100 HP server; each person ponied up USD 110, for which they will receive 10GB of server space, 1GB bandwidth per month, and at least 1 year of hosting. The deal was initiated by 'Louie'). None of the participants takes a risk: if the collection for a group action falls short of its target or deadline, all collected money is refunded. Unlike an online auction, however, Fundable acts as a sort of escrow service between groups of people and the person who collects their money
Via Springwise

Get Googled !

The world can only goggle at Google. This week, the internet search company founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two Stanford University students, overtook Time Warner to become the most valuable media company in the world.

The good times are certainly back for the internet sector. After the plunge in shares and confidence that followed the dotcom boom of the late 1990s, many investors are piling back on to the bandwagon. No company is as popular as Google, which floated at $85 (47) a share in August and came close to reaching $300 a share on expectations that it will keep on growing rapidly.

The heady atmosphere is more grounded in reality this time. Google is not being valued on 'eyeballs', 'stickiness' or any of the other fake measures that were concocted to disguise the fact that companies were not making money. Google, along with the other internet giants - eBay, Amazon and Yahoo - is making a lot of real cash from the growth in online advertising and transactions."

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://bladewidth.blogspot.com/2005/06/get-googled.html' title='Get Googled ! Scam! Scam!

A former top PR person at Microsoft has apparently jumped ship to do PR for 180solutions, a company considered one of the worst offenders of surreptitious installs. 180solutions has been trying to clean up its spyware reputation ever since it convinced some clueless VCs to invest $40 million in the company without even realizing why the company was so hated.

However, so far, its reputation is still pretty dirty, as the company was also caught stealing affiliate program commissions by slipping in its own affiliate codes to URLs, and, more recently, buying its largest distributor, who was often accused of causing the sneaky installs. This last move, in particular, is quite questionable. Why did the company reward a distributor it felt was doing questionable things by buying them out? Wouldn't it have made a lot more sense to simply cut the company off as a distributor, if they were really serious about avoiding sneaky installs?

It seems like this particular PR person has plenty of questions to answer.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://bladewidth.blogspot.com/2005/06/scam-scam-scam.html' title='Scam! Or how about using a '3D printer' to make your own shoes on demand? How about clothes peppered with plastic LEDs that let you change the fabric's pattern at will? These are just some of the bizarre predictions coming from an unlikely research partnership between the London College of Fashion (LCF), based in London's bertrendy Soho district, and the staid UK telecoms firm BT.
The stupendous success of the Apple iPod has proved that technology can also be fashionable. So the race is on to bring iPod-like ease of use and compelling functionality to the clothes we wear, says Sandy Black, a fashion researcher at LCF.
'The iPod has given a real kick-start to the idea of wearable technology,' she says. 'There are already skiing jackets with iPod control switches built into the sleeve material, for instance. So with BT and others we are investigating technologies the fashion industry can harness to meet consumers' heightened expectations.'"
Check out for more <a href="Social Networking : Level 2

The Basic Human need of finding companionship as well as a primary reason why a large segment of people adopted the internet.I still remeber the first few months the main reason why me and most of my friends used the internet was to chat with people from strange faraway lands like costa rica and maybe macau !. While this is no big deal in the current times , trust me it used be a huge wow factor for youngsters in India in the 1990's.

Today social networking has evolved so much that its recognised as a significant segment of the internet industry. If you really look at it social networking is quite similar on nature to the 8m's and the angelfire and geocity pages one used to have in the late 90's .I even remember netzero givin away free domains as well as 10 mb space's (obviously it would be Ad-Supported :) .It would be more correct to say that they are the grocity pages on steroids. Something like a yahoo 360,is like a digital dashboard for an indivdual from where one can access emails, manage photographs, play streaming radio, check news, blog and ofcourse network ! .

The impact of social networking especially in markets like South Korea,Japan, and China is tremendous.A korean social networking network called cyworld is so successfull that 17 million people (almost 25 percent of its population !)is connects through it .They have used an innvoative credit points called acorns which members could swap for cute graphics and other goodies to adorn their pages.Members could also gift these acorns. Some brands have even started offering acorns as gift certificates.

Hi There !

Online social network scores hit in South Korea: Internet News from The Industry Standard: " Communications Co. type='text'>Outsourcing 2 Consulting ?

The whole "Consulting " makeover story of Infosys is making me sick. They have been talking about it for the last 5 years ....where is the moolah boys ?You been shopping aroun in US and Europe trying to buy a consulting practice rather than built one .....Even fellow banagalore firm Wipro,is also trying to grow up into the big boys league.
But what most of them fail to realize is that ,merely having a stacked up cash table and a shopping wish list aint gonna help much .The work culture must evolve from the software sweatshop to a business solution based consulting practice. This requires domain experts not only with years of experience, but also sound interpersonal skills in understanding intricate issues of clients which cant be necessarily be put in excel sheets and analyzed.Yeah Indian firms are good at the analytical game but the other one is a different ball game.If indeed they knew what they were chewing into , I think they should have started with the Indian as well other Asian markets, albeit a less profitable one in the short term but nevertheless a great opputurtunity in understanding their own organizational issues as well gaining foothold in the markets of tomorrow.
Somewhere in the Twilight Zone

Long before there was x-files or any of our X-gen sci-fi programmes and even before M.Night Shyamalan was born there was a TV show called Twilight Zone .

Ok now the subject of this post does not have anythin to do with metaphysics or sci-fi ...but something inherently more strange and interesting(the level ofcourse may differin the descending order :))............

What if completely out of a blue you jus pull a rabbit out of thin rabbit ?
What if the rabbit happens to behave like your best friend who knows what you need to hear ...what makes you feel good ....what you wanna be made to feel like ......

ok now dont get the wrong idea's, I havent fallen in love with any rabbit(or whatever the female of the species is called ) !!!!!!!!!!!

I jus happened to meet someone on purely offcial reasons ........
but in jus an hour the conversation shifted to anythin but officiality ......
oddball movie characters....prejudiced bad humour .....juvenile rants and ravings ..

i havent met anyone quite like her ..............
not half as wickedly kiddish and devilishly plotting as her ....
Just one more bite......

obviously the title is delcious and inviting ,a lil kinky perhaps well..i quite agree to all of the above...most of the time when we are highly strung ..esp in the times that we are livin ..all it takes one liberated dose of a whimsical steeplechase...trust and this is just one of those days ...when doing a completely close door private visit to the cyber pornwallah(pornwalli) in this case could be such a relieving experience...esp when that person happens to be a boringly self posessed wimp like me...hmm wonder how many of my offline friends are reading this as of now....oh yeah i do visit porn sites and excuse me not for any online strategising or consumer research ....but mostly for my bout of voyeurism....but that was long back ...hm esp since high school ....but to be honest ....the bite seems to present a pretty refreshing look at online pornography(not porn !) and it takes the intimacy of blogging to another level...one the one hand while i say this let me also add that the same anonymity of web might be allowing a kinky SOB (in CAPS) to swindle a lot free admiration behind this whole facade...whatever be it ......i guess i 'll have one more ...
Just One Bite | About This Blog
<img width='1'
